Was looking at getting a Campanion for a field knife since it is short enough that I won't get looks for it. It seems like a very stout knife, but I can't find a site taht tells how much it weighs. Also, opinions on the sheath are welcome.

a CRKT companion? they are heavy but i carry mine concealed often, the CRKT sheaths are trash imho, get a on/scene tactical or normark custom and ya got a winner imho

Cougar, thanks for the info and the link to your review. I'll be oredring one as soon as I think it is kosher for my account. BTW, I think I can carry it concealed because I will mostly be carrying it in BDUs, so under my blouse on my belt won't be too tough.

Well, of course you can conceal just about anything if you really want to, but the Campanion has a very fat handle, and it's very heavy. Other heavy 5" knives weigh 8 ounces....

In short, you can do it but if concealed carry is your main purpose you might want to consider something of more normal weight and thickness.

Thanks for the advice, Cougar. I wasn' planning on concealing it in the first place, but I just didn't want something that was big enough to attract attention. I have to take my Randall 14 home because of it's shiny 7.5 incher, so I want something a bit more discreet, albeit more sturdy.

Consume mass quantities of honing oil, Cougar.

if ya want something lighter than a companion try a MOD razorback, they are lighter w/the same blade profile, albeit thinner and more $$- but definitly easier to conceal imho........
