How much does not having box detract from a Sebenza’s resale value?

I have a 2022 Sebenza large black micarta that I just never use. I am thinking about selling it but if my life depended on it I can’t find the blasted box. I can’t even imagine I tossed it, but it’s nowhere to be found.

Anyway, what kind of a hit should I expect on a “just the knife” sale vs. the same knife with the box/card/lube/doodads?

Thanks

Comes down to the buyer and your need to sell. Unless it’s a collector piece that I know I’ll eventually sell to a collector that wants the complete package, I could not care less about a box. Rarely do I discount a sale for lack of a box nor do I expect a discount due to lack of one. But that’s me.

Thanks. I’m expecting more buyers pick up these knives to have and hold, rather then actually use. I guess I’m one of them since I never use it! I’m a Microtech guy for EDC.

I guess my point is I expect those would be less interested w/o all the accoutrements.

I’ve seen prices lowered $100.00+ for not having the complete package. Typically, if you don’t have the box, you don’t have the paperwork. I’d guess the bday card is more important than the box.
hmm, in that case it might be worth it to contact CRK for a new card - I believe they will produce one if I send it in.

I would discount it a bit more than if I had a complete set (say $25-$50) and see how it goes. If there is no competition at the time and the buyer planned to make it a user, it may sell. They can always offer less or you can adjust the price later if you want. I have bought a number without boxes, but I do want a slightly better price for doing so. The same problem will exist if I then decide to sell.

Depends entirely on the buyer and where their preferences lie regarding use vs. collectability, imo.. for me personally, I'd like it included, as I feel it adds to the legitimacy of the purchase.. less likely to be a fake if the box/card all look good along with the knife. That said, I wouldn't be be opposed to buying the knife only if I trusted the seller and the price was right. I don't think you'll have any problems finding someone willing to buy a boxless CRK..

maybe its just me! but my sebenzas cost me a lot of of $ and so I always keep there boxes and birth cards as prof I was the buyer, and if I ever sell them I no the new owner would love to have/own the knife and box it came in....

Probably depends on vintage as well. A recently made one bought as a user - no box, so what. A 20+ y.o. collectible - yes please! (No matter that the recently made one might be a collectible sometime down the road too...)

I think in part it will depend on if the buyer is collecting it or if they are gong to use it. A user may not care too much about the box and the the birth date card.

You can get a replacement card and box from CRK, but it's a PITA and will cost at least shipping.....and time..... and some risk.......

Depends on what I am intending the knife for. $300 user with no box, no problem. I'm not expecting a collection piece. Asking nearly new price for "just the knife"? Better have the box, IMHO.
YMMV
