Just curious, how many knives have you purchased that you wouldn't have if it weren't for this site?

Just one month ago, I was just intending to buy one knife for small game cleaning, but after doing a google search for knife reviews and ending up here, I somehow ended up with three knives. And the scary thing is, I already see another custom Buck 110 that is practically calling my name.

I could tell but I might have to kill you to keep a secret. No one in family knows, but if you check out all the knives in my signature line past #13 has come as a direct result of being on the forum.:D

It is a dadd bum addiction for sure.:)

Excellent thread asking an excellent question, Tracker2!! This one really caused me to cogitate what's happened in my life this past year....

I have to admit, as a long-time knife owner and enthusiast, I've always been happy with a small handfull of knives: a nice lockback folder for general outdoors work, a nice (BM!) framelock for daily carry, and one fixed blade for camping and hunting. BUT! Since I joined this forum, my appetite for knives has gone well beyond what I need.

This forum has opened my eyes to makers of knives that I would have never known about. As a result, I'll estimate I've spent approximately $1500 in the past year on knives that, were the truth known (and let's not let it be known), I don;t really need.

I don't even want to know what the knives cost me. I do know I like 'em all.

Actually this site saved me money, because I didn't buy a truckload of inferior knives, just a handful of good ones.

Redguy you make a good point. I would say thousands and thousands of dollars.
Gary you are right those Buck customs are a very good deal!

I've spent over $20K in the past three years, $5K in one month !!!! I need help, BAD :( !!!!!

Well, like Tracker, I have become addicted to Buck Custom 110 knives. Adding those to the Spyderco and Kershaw knives I picked up, I would guess that the site has cost me around $1,300 so far. And, I don't regret a penny. :)

I bought a BM 710 after hearing the rave reviews on this site. I would never have heard of Opinels if not for snooping around here. Now I have one in my pocket and one on the way. And my interest in Moras has certainly increased, leading me to get a Craftsman triflex and a 10" chef's knife. I've also learned a great deal about sharpening, so I also have acquired a couple strops.

I'd say most of the money I've spent because of this forum is from tools acquired after reading in the Knifemaker forum.

It has been in the thousands of dollars, and it was also the straw that broke the camels back as it had some to do with costing me my marriage:eek::eek:

I think of women just like most ppl do of furniture.

It has to look nice and not stand in the way and be usefull in some ways.

But my knives are my babies :)

did i tell u guys i'm in love with my new RAT-5?? :)

hehehe, redguy definately has a point, if not for this site i'd be spending money on lots of worthless garbage knives instead of real quality knives.
but it may not be that much money tho lol

About $2 grand.....but like others it has proably saved me alot more by reading reviews, comparing knives.

Despite the hundreds BF has "cost" me, like others have said, it has also saved me hundreds. I have avoided buying many knives because of the feedback and reviews I found here.

It's a good trade-off IMO.
