How much liner lock engagement is normal on an Emerson?

Hey guys,
Picked up a NIB Emerson BQC-7BW with a build date of 2008 awhile back. I noticed that the liner of this knife moves across the tang a good bit more than any other liner lock knife that I own. Is this normal for a new Emerson?

Email EKI along with the picture. I had the same thing happen to one, they fixed it right up and sent it back to me good as new. They have really good customer service from what I have experienced.

i just got my first emerson a few days ago, a mini A-100.
out the box, the lock up was about 40%. it worried me alittle, cause i dont have experience with emersons, and its lock up.
and if a liner lock did fail on me, i think would prefer the lock to be forced towards the other liner, than the unlocked position.

anyways, within 20 minute of having the knife, i took it apart, and was able to adjust the liners and its lock up position. now the lockup is great! always locks in the same exact position, whether i slowly open the blade or wrist flick it.

Since that looks like a good solid lock-up, I would just use it until it reaches the other side (steel liner). You can send it in at that later date when it really needs readjusting. I am sure they will fix it for you later just the same as they would now. That way you make the most of your return/ readjustment.

I think that the Gov is essentially correct in his statement. That said, it would bug the bejebus out of me personally, to have the locking liner that advanced. None of my Emersons came with the liner past 40%, so take that for what it is worth.

I think that the lock up depends on the Emerson model you have. My CQC-13's and Super CQC-7's lock up at 40-50%. My Commanders and Karambits lock up early.

Take it apart and re assemble it to see if that helps.

Otherwise just keep it and use it until blade play develops. Then send her in.

my super raven was that bad or worse, I took it apart cleaned it and reassembled it tightning it up evenly and it locked up great and has not moved at all from the solid early lock-up.
