How much should I sell my Caly3 for?

Hey guys,

I hope it's ok to post this type of question here. I've got two Caly3 knives, one is NIB which I plan to keep. The other one is one of my EDC knives but it has never seen any heavy use other than light cutting. I'm considering selling it to someone who was asking me for it a while ago and was wondering what the value would be since it's now discontinued. I know it's still a popular and in-demand knife. IIRC I paid about $140US for it back in Dec 2009.
Any ideas? It will be sold with the original box and any paperwork that came with it. I ask because I don't want to rob the buyer but at the same time don't want to cheat myself out of the fair and current market value of the knife.
BTW the only reason I'm considering selling it so I can get a Caly 3.5 to EDC instead.

It's not worth much. I think you should send it to me for proper disposal. Really though, I would check completed Flea-Bay auctions and go from there. I would have to guess it'd go for about $90.

Lately I saw lightly used G10 Caly3 go on BF and e-bay around $70-80. But most of the sales are 50 US. In Canada can be quite different. I never remember NIB G10 Caly3 go for $140. The latest price at most on-line dealers was under $110. Of cause in Canada plus local store that can be something totally different. NIB Caly3.5 can be found for few bucks over $100, so it is difficult to imagine that somebody, who has this information would pay the same or more for used G10 Caly3.

Hi guys, thanks for the info. Ultimate, I replied to your PM. bh49, that price was in Canadian dollars, and was higher due to the exchange at the time. I think it was closer to $136 or so I paid after taxes, etc.
All this has convinced me to keep the Caly3, which is what I originally intended to do. It is one of my favorite knives. I'll just go ahead and pick up a 3.5 sometime. I'm not in a rush for the 3.5 since I've got other knives on my wanted list so I'll continue to EDC my 3 for now.

FYI.....

Ask for a value only and save the sales pitch for the Exchange. I do not want to see sales going on in the Spyderco Forum. Infractions will be issued if this happens again.
 
Hi Ken, my apologies. First of all I did explicitly state that I was asking what the VALUE was in the first paragraph. I opened my original post stating that I hoped it was ok to post the question here. I've never sold any of my knives, and always buy new, so I never visit the Exchange. I only provided as much detail and pics as I did so I could get as accurate as possible a reply from people.

I wasn't trying to sell this on this forum. The person who asked about this was from a different forum altogether. I also wasn't really sure about even selling this knife to him, I was only considering doing it to HELP him out since he can't carry over 3", which I mentioned above.
I even mentioned this to "Ultimate" who PM'd me about his interest in the knife, and who's offer I declined.

Sorry if I broke any rules and if you took this as a "Sales Pitch", that honestly wasn't my intent.

You can go ahead and close this thread because I wouldn't want to get an infraction for asking what I thought was an innocent question.
