How much will ZDP-189 Patina?

First off, everyone was right. After getting my Delica, I ended up buying a super blue stretch. However I haven't used it yet. I've been trying to decide if I want to keep it like new since it was a sprint run or use it. Plus my Delica keeps finding its way in my pocket. When I bought it, the only color the store had was black and that was the last color I wanted. I was hoping for a bright colored one, but even the black color has grown on me and I like the way the black pocket clip is looking worn.
I really like the Delica and I like the way patinas look on a blade. Would a ZDP189 delica develop a nicer overall look with patina than my super blue stretch considering the super blue is laminated? If both steels were used equally, which would develop the most character?
Thanks in advance.

On my knife, ZDP 189 does not develop much of a patina. If it's put away wet it might possibly get a few light brown spots that will wipe off, but it's pretty stainless.

Use that Stretch.......Mine was a collector piece, but because of opening and closing it, and the way the handles rub the blade(look it up...lots of examples.), I just said F it and started using it in my EDC rotation. I have yet to force the patina, yet the SB is nice and dark.....even the SS laminates show patina.

My Endura in ZDP-189 only has the slightest bit of patina where the blade is exposed when closed.

Here is my Stretch. The patina on the laminate is hard to see in this pic, but very noticeable in person. You can also see the scratching that the FRN makes.

My ZDP's get a slight patina or darkening. I cut fruit with them - probably why. I like the steely/manly look it gives them.

I'd agree with the others, ZDP doesn't really develop a patina. It does gets a bit discolored if used for food prep, but so will VG-10 with certain foods.

I think that just a strip of patina on the super blues looks pretty cool. I dont own any laminated blades but the look is making me itch to purchase one!
