I am wondering how much one of these would sell for?

Also, how much would it cost to have some one make a 4 inch replica of this knife? I think this one is 5 inch.
I suppose that it would depend on the quality of the workmanship....
I am just looking for rought guesstemits

I'm guessing that there is supposed to be a picture...

EDIT Now I see the picture

That is a custom balisong not by BM, but by Elishewitz (sp?) that is his trademark tanto blade and it is probably several hundred dollars (I've never seen a price for any of his balisongs but they are probably really up in the $400-500 and up range but I don't know for sure). Susan should know, it's on her page.

Oh my...a latchless! Got any pics Mr. Steve? Question: Did you pay $600 because of your location or for the demand in craftmanship? From the pic above, it seems to be a fine piece!

Kind regards,

Shrubba,
I would guess it cost $600 dollars new from Benchmade.

BalisongMan,
Although the blade was groung by Elish, the handles and assembly were done by BM.

Sabo,
I would guess that 17 of the 5" blades were made. And a similar # of 4" blades were made.

I would kill for a 4" version of that!
I would have a hard time paying upwords of $600 for that... especially when you can't adjust the pins...
Benchmade should do another run of that exact knife with Ti handles, same inserts (or carbon fiber, or G10) and torx pins. I would love to own that bad ass!

If any one wants to sell their's, let me know!

Sort of reminds me of this one:

among others in my collection.

$600 would be the absolute minimum I'd expect to see that knife go for. If I was to sell mine, a thousand is the minimum I'd even think about.

well it was an eyesore for me (okay okay noone shoot me down please!!) I woudl have wanted to keep it for investment purpose bt well.. tantoes tantoes tantoes.. I get visitting rights if I am in CA anyways.. is why I liek to take te names and addies of people I sell significant pieces to
smile.gif
remmeebr I am unemployed and work part time as a web designer and bounty hunter so i can't afford it.

and hey the main reason I bought the elish was to use it as trading fodder for a crawford now that i (thanks Gollnick) have a crawford what more could I need?

If you notice when I make people's dream balis come true.. usually they are tantoes.. hmm I wonder why

Presentation-grade Snakewood, of course.

Snakewood is one of the most difficult materials to work with. Vance said this was the most difficult project he's ever done. Even Mel Pardue got in on the act and helped out. Vance, who assembled ALL of the last-edition Benchmade customs and, therefore, knows them all quite well, said this was his favorite of the whole lot.

I'm not a big Tanto fan, but I have to say that Mr. Elishewitz's interpretation of the Tanto for this edition is a tanto that even I can like (hopefully, since I own three. Sorry(I don't think there's a smiley face for ducking incoming rotten fruit). (And, no, I am not going to post pictures of the other two because they're part of a set of four (ducking more rotten fruit) that all have identical handles, a special design that I came up with myself and have never before seen on any balisong and don't want copied. I did have on my site, for a while, but I think it's not linked in (I should fix that) a picture of just the four blades with the serial numbers visible since somebody accused me of not having that many of the final edition customs. Sorry, I do (ducking again). Now you know why I am, "THE balisong collector himself"... dot com and everything.))

Most Tanto's strike me as very crude and very heavy and clunky. Mr. Elishewitz's tanto for these special Bali-Songs, however, are very energetic. They strike me as being in motion even when they're sitting on display (which, by the way, mine rarely do since I keep them in a bank vault).

If you had to ask me to pick the best balisong in my collection, this is one that would definitely be on the short list.

The funny thing is that I bought the blade and handles without picking an insert. It was the last blade and BM was actually having troubles finding a buyer for it. So, I scooped it up thinking I'd pick out some insert for it and eventually use it as trading fodder. Then, at the Oregon Knife Collector's Show, I found this wonderful piece of Snakewood. I'm not gonna tell you how much I paid for this chunk of Snakewood, but the seller said it was one of the finest pieces he has ever handled.

Vance took it from me at the show. Some time later, I got a call saying, "come and see this thing." I was floored. The only word to use is gorgeous.

Well, my knife looks like a booger next to Chuck's, but it is still a very good knife. I agree with Chuck, I generally dispise tantos, but this knife really flys, the balance and weight are all in perfect harmony, and it seems to swing with speed but stop exactly where you want it to. Sorry I don't have a better picture currently. The handles are Ti. It is next to a 4" Weehawk for scale.
