Looking at this knife for a while now, but can't seem to pull the trigger. I hear a lot of great things about it, but the current prices seem high. But that really depends on the user I suppose. I know subjective value is different for everyone, but based on objective value, is the knife worth what is being asked, $210-$240?

I'm not living in the US at the moment, so options are more limited. So far, $210 is about the lowest I've found. On the fence, can you help me out?

Thanks.
Lev

I'm not sure how one would go about measuring the "objective value" of a knife, but the Buck/Mayo TNT seems to be in the same general price range as other production offerings with titanium handles and S30V blades. Some cost a bit less (e.g., Spyderco Sage 2 and Benchmade Subrosa), others about the same (e.g., Bradley Alias I and II), and others more (e.g., CRKs).

I'd say go for it. From what you've said, it sounds like the knife would be worth the asking price to you, and that's the main thing that matters. And it's not like you're considering dropping $200+ on a piece of junk: it's a very well-regarded knife built with quality materials and backed by one of the best brands/warranties in the business.

I offered one for sale in the "Exchange" earlier this year. NIB from 2003. Even threw in a Chinese made Buck on the deal. Price asked was $200 including shipping.

I received over a dozen offers with bids of $155-$125. (This at a time when questionable ones were selling on eBay for $210+.)

This should give you some idea as to what members of this forum will pay.

I actually need to thank you for this thread because I decided to pull my two TNT's out and play with them. I've been distracted with a new ZT release and some others like the Sage II. You caused me to remember that the TNT is a premium world class knife.

So to the prices. I paid $125 for the one in original condition and $100 for the one that was mod'ed (anodized and top horn removed). Mind you I came along about 5 minutes after they were offered on the sale forum and both were in slightly used condition.

Despite my good luck with those prices I would not hesitate to pay $175-$200 for this knife as it is simply a remarkable knife.

I included this one too because it shows the dehorning but also the rounded top edge of the blade. A very classy feature. Good luck in your search but don't wait to long they are disappearing.

Your not looking hard enough they can be had NIB for less than 190.00 I can't tell you where because that is deal spotting and not allowed here. Also they have been discoed and the prices have been steadily rising on ebay over the last six (6) months as scarcity is coming into play.

Another thing what people pay here and other forum sites and what people pay elsewhere such as ebay, brick/mortar etc, are vastly different. What is paid here should have no impact on what you pay elsewhere as you one needs to realize the few of that particular model sold here represent the exceptions in the market not the rule given the disparity in volume and condition as ones purchased in most other areas are legitimately NIB.

One last thing it is a incrediblly well designed knife with a relief cut that is thicker than most "harduse" folders, solid, well made knife and even though is very thin and considered by many here as a gentleman's folder because it is slight compared to their XYZ harduse, kickass, bombproof, nutcracking sum of bitch they carry. Would I baton with it, no, but I would not do that with any folder its a knife not a splitting wedge to be hit with a maul but mine gets carried a lot and used plenty hard with no problems.

It is the best knife you can get without getting into sebenza territory.. that is all I have to say.. buy one.. it is a gateway knife that leads you to buy higher quality knives! And you should be able to find a used one for around $150

I myself paid $125 for mine very recently, but it's a phenomenal folder so I'd probably still pay around $175 if it was at that price.

Thanks for all of the input. Yeah, I've heard nothing but fantastic things about the knife. But you know how it is when you're about to part with a lot of cash - you start second guessing, maybe something else is better for less. I know, I know, I should just buy it and see for myself. Which is what I'm about to do.

Let you know when I get it.

Thanks again.

I got mine for $100 on the Exchange forum! I think I might have set a record on that deal :) I would probably pay twice that for it, but as others have mentioned, you can find it for sale new for less than $200.

You can't go wrong with it...

Thanks. I checked out both knives. The Cabelas one is not a one-handed opener. Sweet though. As for the Vantage Pro, I agree...quite a bargain. This is why I love asking for opinions. It leads to all kinds of great things. Somehow else, I ended up looking at some Mcusta knives. Just more to the list.

Well, crap..........wished you wouldnt of posted that! Now I have to order one.:D

You'll be glad you did!!! Buck S30V is as good as it gets. The high hollow grind is a real slicer and the contoured G10 is great looking and grippy. Good design at a great price. Oh, slim and easy to pocket carry!!
