How much would you pay for your RATs?

Say if you had to pay $90 or even $110 for an Izula (without kit), would you still buy one or would you look for something cheaper?

I'd totally still buy one--I just wouldn't be able to afford it as quickly. Also, the kit is totally worth the extra.

I'm guessing that you're asking because that's how much they'd cost you on the other side of the pond?

Aye... if I could get one for $60 I'd have ordered one already... but ~$100 is a lot for a small piece of 1095.

I'll probably still get one, and just go without food for awhile :p

PS. If anyone has a daughter who wants a British husband, I'm more than willing to move to the US :D

Trust me, nobody wants a british son-in-law.:D

Just kidding, but to answer your question, I love my Izula, but I don't know if I would pay twice the going price for one unless everything else available were equally inflated.

I would pay more than the going rate here in the states. I think they're a bargin at their current price.

I think they are fairly priced, and their fit and finish is great.

I would apy the extra for the RAT. Warranty alone covers that in my opinion.

The Izula is a bargain anywhere here state side...now considering your not state side anything between $85-$125 the Izula is still worth it in my eyes.......

Well not to dog other companies out there in any way. I keep seeing other makers such as TOPS and all the busse stuff. Well Most of them are made in the same steel and honestly the fit and finish seems to be on the same playing field as the others. I know that if the RAT guys sold their wares for those price ranges people would buy them for sure....but on a side note thanks to the rat guys for not. They build a superior product in my eyes that can be used and abuse day in and day out and I am not having to decide if I should buy a knife that gets up in price close to my car payment.

I agree that the RC line of knives are worth every penny you'd pay for them, even if they were priced higher. I think for me thou, if it were higher priced I wouldnt beat the living sh...... errr "use it as much". :D Great knives, I prefer over some of my higher dollar blades.

shipping over there should be around 10-15$
so it shouldn't be that bad

Cheapest I can find it* is KSF; $55 for the knife, $12 for shipping, plus 15% of the combined price for Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs, plus $12 for Royal Mail to pay that 15% to HMRC for me (). Comes to about $83/4 using Google's current exchange rate, but I'm sure it'll be nearer $90 with the exchange rates PayPal and HMRC use.

Or, I could just buy it from the only UK place that has it in stock and pay $110 :(

* One place has it listed at $80... but they don't have any in stock and can't even tell me if they've ordered any more, let alone give an expected arrival date

I suppose it's worth it anyway; I'll be using it practically everyday and with the warranty, it's a knife for life... it'll just have to wait 'til my ($530ish) tax refund comes in (which should be next month... no wonder I'm poor; the government borrowing all my monies!). :)

WHAT?! Your Gov GIVES IT BACK!!:p

Yeah, I probably would. I dont have the cash to buy one right now, so I'm trying to trade a Swamp Rat Howling Rat for one... and, it's probably worth that much.

Well, I'm pretty sure part of the pricing formulae was generated so as to not compete with the RC-3 itself. That said, the Izula is a unique product and fulfills its purpose perfectly. Yes it is worth it. Really - customs fees are difficult to swallow, but that its RAT's fault. Over here in Canada it is hit or miss. Sometimes I get dinged the customs fees and other times not. More often not, so I count the actual customs paid to be less than the stated rate.

WOW that is a lot of tax to pay on a $55 knife.

We're from the government and we're here to help you....
