How much?

Hello all! I have been very hesitant to ask this question, and moderators please note that I am not attempting to sell anything, just to get a feel for how much something is worth for nothing else than my curiosity. A few years back I was trolling though my usual gunstore when I wandered by their knife case. There I saw a new and unusual offering from benchmade. It was a fullsized nimravus. I bought one and did not bother to take it out of the package (he got one from the back, not the display piece) till I got home. Low and behold there written on the side of the blade is "First Production Run, 1 of 1000"- Now I have seen them labled 364 of 1000 and so on but never 1 of 1000. Is this the first production piece and if so how much is it worth? Bear in mind it has never been used, in mint condition, still with original box and warranty card.

My brother has first production run 1 of 1000 in the Pinnacle with a satin finish, semi serrated. I have been thinking the same thing since he got it this May... how much? Anyone know the answer to these questions?

Most manufacturers do not actually number the knives in the first production run, as in 271 of 1000. They mark all the knives in a run with the same 1 of 1000 marking, meaning that the knife is one of the first 1000 made. It is unlikely that you have the actual first knife made in that run.

These knives sometimes have a slightly higher value than the regular production run, but not much. Maybe 10-20 years from now they will be worth more. Who knows?

I am actually glad someone brought this up. I just got a Buck/Strider and its labled 1 of 1,000. At first I was thinking very cool, first one. Then I noticed they all say that:(

Now my limited edition Red Rekat Sifu says 012/050. I think that is safe to say that I have the 12th knife of 50 made.

Also, since the first production run really does not make the knife more valuable, what about if it is in a different type of steel such as the Buck/Strider in B-42 steel as opposed to the ATS -34 modle?
