How often do you maintain your knives?

Every day I wipe off my EDC blade and sometimes handle with my shirt. Every week I air compress it. After a month from the last real cleaning, I use Windex or another light cleaner to wipe down the blade, and often times I will air compress any lint and debris out of the action. After two months, I lather the knife with liquid soap and was it thoroughly under warm water. Then I towel dry, air compress, and finally blow-dry the knife. I add a drop of lubricant (currently Militec 1) to the action and the cycle starts all over again. Of course I clean it as needed, if I'm cutting tape or something I will definitely get all of the gunk off. I also touch the blade up freehand every few months. Any of you have a set-in-stone maintenance schedule?

I used to be more fussy about knife maintenance; now I just maintain my knives when they need it.

I wash mine very regularly....by accident when I leave them clipped to my jeans on laundry day.

As needed, daily at times.

Oiled/lube on the edge [ left wet ], and sharpening back to razor edge.

At the end of the day I wipe down the blades of whatever knives I've carried that day. If I've cut food, I wash the blade with dish detergent and water just like it was a kitchen knife, then wipe it dry. I inspect and pick lint out of my knives whenever I take one out of my pocket to look at it. I sharpen as needed but do it fairly often because I feel uncomfortable if the knife I'm carrying isn't shaving sharp. I use Pro Link on pivots as needed.

I recently got a Griptilian and a Mini-Grip, my only Axis lock knives, but I haven't yet come to terms with taking them apart to clean them. So far, I've tried to pick lint out of the Axis mechanism before it gets inside. SAK tweezers work well for me for this task.

Try my technique above...seriously it works! If not try just running it under a faucet, dry with a hairdryer, then relube. No need to tear 'em down IMO.

the only knife i really maintain is my tracker blade.

After usage ( which means i've been in the woods for days at a time) ill totally wash down the sheath and then whipe down the blade.

Dry it with a towel of some sort and then oil it up and replace in sheath and wait until another adventure

I wipe my EDC (BM 943) blade off a couple times a day depending on how much use it gets. I completely strip the knife down once a month and clean out the AXIS mechanism, I just did it today. I lube the knife up with Rem Oil, seams to work pretty well.
