How often do you use your Beckers?

For the purposes of this discussion I'd like to exclude the smaller than a tweener sized knives (24, 14, Remora, etc...) How often do you use your Becker and what daily uses to do you have for it? I suspect there will be a fair amount of kitchen duty here. What else do you do with them, and which ones do you do it with. It's illegal to conceal a fixed blade in Florida unless you have a CCW so I generally don't open carry unless I am fishing or camping. I live in suburbia and my folders work just fine for my purposes. I'm truly curious what other people do with them though :)

I use my BK2 almost everyday. I'm out in the woods a lot and do a lot of carving and such. I also use it for food prep and whatever else I can use it for.

Wish I knew the Florida concealed law before I went there for Christmas and concealed my Bk11 every day.

I have one that is ruler over its respective line of work: the BK9 that I have is strapped to my hip on all camp outs since I purchased it, even going so far as to oust my 3V Gravelle FK5 from that position through sheer badassery.

My other one, the BK15, is my backup knife on every hike I go on, it's riding in the pack for use as a loaner or in case the worst case scenario happens and my BK9 is unusable. I will also use it for various cutting jobs around the house, like trimming the recycling into manageable portions, but it shares that duty with at least 3 other knives.

I can't carry any fixed blades at work due to Seattle city laws prohibiting such actions, so I'm relegated to my folders for that.

I live in a michigan city suburbs too, and open carry is not possible, but for fishing and camping my combo of choice is bk9+bk17+bk11 you can't go wrong with those, for kitchen duties nothing better than my loved FFG bk16, so i use my beckers pretty much every day especially my bk11 since fits in my pocket very well and is the one with me all day long.

I carry my 15 daily when I'm not working. Most times when I go out for a ride in the Harley I'll toss the ol 5 on my belt. Other than that, general camping and sheath making activities.

Most work days I have the 2 in the truck and a 24 in my back pocket. I own and operate a landscape maintenance company.

I have a stripped 5 and a stripped 15 that reside in the kitchen.

I also live in suburbia and a folder accommodates just about all knife tasks.

Other than camping, ATV riding or Jeeping, my heavy use Beckers unfortunately do not get to see much heavy use.

The older I get the more time in the field I feel I need ... and a Becker or three will be with me.

Is every hour on the hour multiple times in the hour too much. My bk11 is always on my hip. I work with alot of boxes and people that dont understand the need to carry even just a box cutter. They love to pull out their keys and stab at the tape like neanderthals.

We live in the city, but do have a little bit of a yard, so the 4 is used quite a bit on the weekends for tree / brush trimming and splitting wood for kindling in the fire pit.

The 15 is in my hiking sling bag, which also gets used often for hunting and fishing.

The 9 is in the truck box, so while it's ready for duty, it doesn't see a lot of use, unless we're camping or if I just find some other excuse to use it. I probably should get a 3 for the truck and use the 9 more in the yard.

That's so sad... :'( Will you 5 ever know the glory of camping? Making traps, carving, chopping, shelter making etc etc etc....

It's done most of those things! When I go camping now, I'm trying to take one knife at a time to get good use out of it. I used to take a knife bag that was completely ridic. I'm actually pretty happy my 5 is getting daily use.

I have a 4, a 9 & 24 combo on the way and a 15. I may just stash the 15, as I only have the one and it's currently pristine, and use my D2 rat 7 and/or Spyderco Mule for those duties at camp.

I used to take a knife bag on campouts too, but ever since I got my 9 I can't put it down long enough to use any of the other knives I bring. Maybe I just need to leave the 9 at home so I am forced to use my other big knives.

Besides my edc 14, I have my 17 everyday with me. In the office its my dedicated Box chopper and at the weekend its on my hip for hiking and camping. If there's a bigger cutting task in the kitchen, the 17 comes to the rescue:)

My 7 gets the least used, but when there is an overnighter outdoors it's with me;)

Office worker here so no fixed blade carry during the week. I carry two folders though.

On weekends it's a different story. Couple acre property with lots of trees so yard work every weekend. When I just had a 9 it was the weekend carry. Then I got a Cincy 4 and the 9 started staying in the knife chest. Then I got a 21 and started using it a lot. Then I lucked into a 6 and...well...now I just rotate amongst the 4 of them. The 4, 6, 9 and 21 are all quite capable of handling anything I need done.

So as a "car camper" with a 4 and a 9 and a townhouse, I think I may be over saturated in the big chopper knives department. Since the serve almost the same role Ii wonder if I should trade the 4 for a 5 or something else? As far as I can tell the 4 and 9 serve the same role.

I've got a 5 and a 15 in the kitchen and the 15 see's use multiple times a day by the whole household.

How often do you have to sharpen them and where do you store them? I use my Spanish Henkels in the kitchen but I am always sharpening because the wife is BRUTAL on edges.

I guess the correct answer would be; not often enough! Kids and jobs, man I need to get out more. I don't EDC fixed blades and I stick to using kitchen knives in the kitchen so the Beckers only get used when I get a chance to get out into the woods for a while. Lately that isn't all too often.
