How often does GEC re-run a pattern?

I see that alot of the GEC patterns that I like are all bought up (shocker). Does GEC re-run making their patterns or is it a once and done deal? How often do they run them if this is the case? Judging from the time it takes to get a new pattern out, it seems to take a long time to get a knife run together.

Just whatever they want to do. No rules. They basically release new knives twice a week. Not necessarily new patterns. It might take a week or so to release all the variations of one pattern. More or less. They re run patterns from time to time. Lately it seems like a lot of new patterns.

I don't ever recall them re-releasing a pattern in the exact same handle material, bolsters and blade steel. A few times they have released a pattern in the same handle material, but with 440C instead of 1095. They make some little change, even in their re-releases of stag handled knives, like slanted instead of square bolsters, or pinched or threaded instead of plain, etc.

Depends on the pattern. If they were popular and distributors are requesting them, they will show back up in the schedule. But Jeff is right, very rarely the identical knife. There are some "dogs" out there that I would be surprised if they showed up again, but stranger things have happened. Everyone has their own taste and it is never more obvious than in knives. The Castro seemed like a good pattern, but was very slow. The French Kate never did do much after the initial rush from a few. The canoe was really talked about online when it was announced, but few showed up when it hit the market.

GEC generally keeps a 45 day schedule posted, but further out than that it is anybody's guess.

Out of curiosity, what were the patterns?

Would like to see them come back out with the drop-point 25s. A 76 in ebony as well. Like to see more of the White Owls in a jack pattern instead of the equal end.

I REAAAAALLLLYYYYYY want them to make another run of Big Jacks in ebony. If they did that I would buy 2. I would also like to see some more 65's in ebony with a clip point in non lockback.

I posted about the 74 Saddle Trappers and when I went to your site, the Tidioute that I was looking at was recently sold. That, and maybe the 85 clip points and EZ opens. So many knives, so little money. BTW, I recently bought 2 GEC's from you to start my traditional addiction off and have to say you are top notch as a businessman. Hats off to you are your family!!! Thank you

They could do with re-issuing that Houndstooth Wharncliffe already  (forget the Spears) Finding it hard to find the one I want.

Another good point about GEC is they've built up a very respectable catalogue of patterns, nearly all of them will be well received when they do re-issue them. Additionally, there's a lot of patterns they could release, hint, a NORFOLK from them would be stellar.:D

As others have said, I'd be surprised if there isn't a second series of the 15 barlow coming back out. I've been carrying either my two blade jack, or barlow, since getting them. Thanks Charlie and Mike!
