i was wondering if a sebenza hasent been used hard, how often does it have to be lubed. I ask this because ive had many benchmades with phosphor bronze washers and i never lubed them. I know its been asked before but does the face on the lock bar need to be lubed? I wouldnt think the washers need that much lube because they really arent under any kind of sheer load. Also i use my sebenza on food, so i need a food safe lube any ideas...maybe baby oil ???

I suspect you can go years without lubing. The main reason for me to lube would be that I tend to take the knife apart and clean it periodically. I do that to clean out the crud that gets in there from my pocket. Since the cleaning also removes the lube, I hit it with some CRK teflon lube before I put it back together. Again, if you don't take it apart to clean, I suspect you don't have to lube very often. Usage and conditions of use are a factor, of course.

I think, what needs to be lubed regularly, is above all the detent ball and the area in which it moves over the blade while opening and closing the knive.

Each time I wash the knife without taking it apart, the blade becomes very stiff. But when I push the locking bar away from it, it's smooth as ever. So just a drop of tuff glide on the detent ball, and I'm ready to go again.

The pivot and washers get lubed only when the knife is disassembled, which is every few months. No problem here, even when the knife gets wet.

I don't lube on a regular basis but as needed. Let me say that I too use the CRK lube. I figure the CRK folks know their folders better than anyone else so if they say that their lube is what is best for that application then that is good enough for me.
