How often to clean folding knives with water & soap if rarely used but always carried

My main concern is the lint build up on my spyderco lock back folders. How often do you recommend I run it through hot water to get rid of lint and debris build up? I carry my knife all the time, but use it rarely.
 
blow out the lint or pick it out with a pin. make sure to oil up the pivot if you wash it with soap and water. you might want to ask them over on the spyderco forum what they would do :D.
 
Whenever you want. Use HOT water, shake out excess, when no more droplets are on the blade a small drop of lubricant should suffice.
