Here in Canada we have been having unusually warm weather, and I was able to go to my first garage sale of the year.

Well the guy had quite a few knives but mostly Gerbers, and after buying my childhood dream knife a Tac II I mentioned that I loved Spyderco's. He goes "wait a sec I have one around here somewhere. I've had it for maybe over 30 years" and luckily he found it and I was able to walk away with this awesome Mariner.

I don't know a lot about vintage Spyderco's but I'm wondering is this a 2nd Gen Mariner? And if so what years were they produced in? Or is this a much newer Mariner?

As always thanks for the help guys.

Patent number on the pocket clip, name etched on the blade, no steel stamp. I would date that around 1989

Beveled edges on the handle says second generation, no steel stamp says pre 1991, so around 1989 is probably about right.

Try picking up old traditionals. I have quite a few that were made when my dad was nine. (Or less)
