Well I had a bit of a problem with my 2k Commander. The stop pin for the blade is cracked in half. I was wondering why the heck the liner lock was moving over so far...

So off to Emerson it goes tomorrow. Anyone know what time frame I am looking at on turnaround?

Guess I will have to take out the 7B for a while for my EDC.

Oh one other question while I am at it. As I was looking at the knife I noticed for the first time that none of the screws in the handle go into the plastic spacer. How is that spacer at the rear held on?

Thanks in advance for your responces.

sent in a CQC7 i was having probs with and got it back w/in 2 weeks - not bad at all

Oh thats a quick turnaround. I know they are a small shop, and was dreading something of a 2 - 3 month wait.

I recall Jonas (our Swedish mercenary Suspect), had a similar problem a little while back. I beleive a telephone call to Derek at EKI resulted in a couple of stop pins and screws in the mail. Maybe you can give the shop a call and avoid sending through the whole package.

I believe Hollister indicated that soem of the 2000 Commanders were strickened with a bad batch of stop pins. I also have a 2K Commander, but have not as yet experienced this situation. Hopefully I never will.

Good luck.

Had quite a learning curve on sharpening my first CQC7.The edge was about as far from "factory" as one could get it.I sent it in about 2 weeks ago and got it back today.:) Btw they also put on a new clip, pivot pins and screws all around.:)

Oh and its nice and sharp and pointy once again.:D

howdies and sowutashuns,

The plastic spacer is held in place by the 4 screws that are undernieth the non/spring liner, them four suckers go thru that liner, then thru the plastic thingy then meats up with them threaded holes that the spring liner has for them.

Ahh thats how that sucker is on there.

I would have called and just had them send me a new pin, but figured while it was out of action could use a resharpen from the factory. So for a 2 - 3 week turnaround I will carry a 7, and get back a sharp blade.

Was just a weird problem. Metallurgy aside I think possiably that the hole drilled (lazer cut?) in the liner for the pivot pin might be a tad big, as it has a more play in it then my other Commanders I have owned. So that might be a contributing factor.

Wow these guys rock!
Sent the knife off on 1-25-02 via USPS, so lets face it they didnt even get the knife untill say 1-28 or so. They were gearing up for the SHOT and Custom shows in Vegas that week. And low and behold I recive the UPS sticker on my front dorr today!!!! 2-4-04 That has got to be a record turn around time for a small shop! I just cant believe how great the guys at the shop are.

To think that I was going to break balls at the SHOT Show tomorrow to get my knife done quicker!!!! Cant wait to ambush the UPS guy tomorrow!!!
Thanks again to the hardworking guys and gals at EKI!!!
HMMM think I shall have to get a 2002 Commander now (see sperate post on the new generation of Commanders)
