any input is wanted

I think you will find that they are of very good quality. As far as the two patterns, it is a matter of taste. I am a little partial to the jack, but I bet the canoe would feel better in a pocket.

As far as the D2, it is a little tough to resharpen, but I think it is well worth it. Mine keep an edge longer than any other current factory multiblades I own. You may want to reprofile the edge when you get one although I hear the new ones do have less of an edge angle than the ones I happen to have.

the jack is the bottom of the two? or is it a trapper?

gotcha, what would i reprofile it to if i did?

The jack is the bottom. (I consider trappers having a clip and a spey blade).

It is hard to say as far as the angle since I use a stone to sharpen. My guess is that I went somewhere between 15 and 20 degrees.

thank you bastid, thank you gus.

but what do you suggest as patterns? im just basing off of looks riight now, do you know any specifics? i cant find any on the web.

I think for the most versatility I would go for a stockman pattern.

-Bastid :D

im just wandering, you know how some slipkjoints arent tooo hot when theres more than 1 blade at the same end, being shittish, how are the queens?

the jack looks k, is it comfy though?

I do not think you will be disappointed with the D2 Queens. I have started carrying a Canoe recently (not a Queen) and it does ride very easily in the pocket of a pair of khakis or dress pants. I guess it patly coms down to intended use and your everyday attire. The jack will be a little bulkier but probably a little sturdier.

ah ok, hows the canoe? how large is it? as in length open and closed, and gus, if you read this, do you know the size of the jack?

The Canoe is 3 5/8" closed and there are two Jacks in Cocobolo (as of last year). One is 2 1/2" and the other is 2 3/8".

holy a$$master, that means the canoe is quite a bit larger, it looks like the jack is larger, why are you partial to the jacks anyway?

No special reason for my partiality for jacks (between the two) just my silly preference. Might be because the jack is similar to a Dr. pattern :). (I mostly collect Dr's and whittlers). As far as something for EDC that canoe with all the rounded corners is going to be a good carry. I pretty much have to wear slacks at my job, so around the office my carry is a little smaller typically. (Not including the tools in my briefcase.:)).
