Anyone have an opinion on the scarcity or value of the early Spyderco Experimentals ( i.e #2 , #3, #5 ) ? Is it crazy to carry one? Thanks

In general most experimentals differ from the models they became only by the fact that the cardboard box says something different. I believe only one is different enough to worry about, but forget which one...sorry. :o

In my opinion, the CX06, which was the original black almite version of the Walker, and the unvented almite version of the CX02 experimental Navigator are both rare enough and unique enough to command a premium price. The rest, as Zen said, are indistinguishable from the later production versions that followed them. As an example, I have both a CX03 and a micarta C52 in my display case and frankly, I would be only be guessing as to which knife goes with which box. So for any but the two first mentioned, go ahead and carry them, just keep the box in mint condition. ;) :D
