How sharp will my new Umnumzaan be out the box?

Here is another comparison: it was sharp but not as sharp as any of my one-piece A2 CRKs were out of the box.

As long as it's hair shaving sharp out the box, I will be very happy.:) I can't stand to buy a knife that costs a lot and its dull out the box.

So you'd better never buy a Strider...;)

All my Striders shaved out of the box, but then again it's not a knife meant for shaving.

Some knives I put a very polished edge on (dress knives, and most of my VG-10 knives) with my Sharpmakers UF rods. Others (SMF, Military, Tenacious, Manix 2) I put a nice rough edge on starting with the diamond rods and finishing with the flats of the brown stones. I find that the courseness of the edge lends itself to more rapid sawing cuts that I typically make.

Congrats on the Umnumzaan, make sure you post pictures!

I've been very happy with by my umnums! Thanks to Chris and his great company and also thanks to Neil and TNK for offering the tanto.

Both my reg and tanto shaved out of the box. After the touch up I just gave them the tanto is popping:)

They will all vary a bit Jill.

I've bought many sebbies, and while all were very sharp some have been what I call scary sharp. One was the sharpest knife, handmade or factory, as any I have ever seen.

It will at least be plenty sharp to knock hair off, I've never seen a CRK that wouldn't.

That's a shame. The best knives never come sharp out of the box. I've yet to receive a sharp NIB 710.
