How should I mod my 16

Just got a 16 about a week ago and I'm still putting it through its paces (hope to have a extensive and comprehensive review up the beginning of next month I still want to take it on a few more outings when I get up to the Adirondacks) Anyway I've been stewing over what I want to do to it when I'm done with my reviewing.
Primarily I need to do something about the handle (too small) I'm thinking liners but I'm open to ideas. Next at bat, I'm debating strip or no strip, I'm not a huge fan of the coating, but I'm also thinking about re-coating it (or possibly blueing it).

Anybody got any other suggestions while she's still stock? (I like the blade shape so no major reshaping but I'm thinking about a convex ,squaring something off for a striker, and maybe some more gimping)

Buy an Azwelke sheath and a tek lock for it. That's the best move for a stock BK16 in my book.
Oh I've been droolin over those and some of Skystorm's for a while, I can't decide whether I want leather or kydex (stripped I'm going with leather, as is or re-coated probably kydex). That's all just a matter of money, the rest of the mods I have the materials, time, and tools to do.

I have both mine and Al's for the 16, I recommend both. The 16 is my most favored of knives that size. On days when I only use a medium sized knife it's the 16 in a leather bush sheath, On days when its the small knife then I stuff it on the pack in one of Al's rigs. By small I mean in comparison to my 4 or the RBK.

I know exactly what you mean, probably going to scrounge around for some cash to buy one of your's for when I want to dress it up and since Azwelke's aren't too expensive Ill end up picking one up for my tactical rig. So many great craftsmen on BF so little cash *sigh* problems of a knife nut. (really like Bush sheath myself btw)

The usual strip the coating, get a sheath of your preference leather or kydex. Tought if its your first go leather, leather is the best material nature has given us, cause steel isn't given has we have to mold it to our needs.

-Strip
-Etch/patina/blue
-Square off spine for ferro rod
-Convex
-New scales
-New sheath
-Mod the OA shape

...Just the usual...

If you go with liners, I would suggest stripping. If you don't you'll need to get new fasteners for the handles.

Trade your 16 in on a REAL knife -- like a -15 or -17... :D

Spacers are the quickest bang for the buck, even if it means a trip to True Value for some stainless hardware. Makes a big difference in the feel of the Tweeners. People have used Kydex scraps, CD cases -- your imagination is the only limitation.

Ha Ha very funny :p, I figured I already have a boatload of clip point blades and I want to get an actual bk-5 one of these days and heck If I wasn't going to catch a lot of lip from the GF and my mother I would have probably snatched up the three of the tweeners and sold or traded what I didn't like (which would probably be none of them). Ill have to look into the cd case liners I think the clear would look cool between the scales and a coated or stripped blade (or for that matter I have a bunch of plexiglass scraps around that would probably work.

Thin liners (~.030") will put you up to a 8-32x5/8" screw. They're fairly easy to find at a hardware store. I like my tweeners a lot more with handle liners. The hump on the bottom rear portion of the handle does bug me, as the back of my hand / pinky sits uncomfortably in that area with normal grips. I may grind that area down when I put new handles on it, but we'll see what happens.

Yeah there's just something wonky with how the handle is shaped and sized, I have about medium to barely large hands and it seems a bit anemic even to me. If it was a little beefier around and a bit longer I think it would solve a lot.

Not sure if it qualifies as a mod but when I put a good edge on mine it made a big difference.

Also added a white 550 cord lanyard which is handy when I need to grab it quickly or find it in the dark in a pile of leaves.

well its a mod in my book :) I think I want to keep it somewhat subdued in color (my knife's either in my hand or on my belt when I'm in the woods haven't lost one yet...knock on wood) but the factory edge does need some work. Good lookin knife
