What's the best way to long-term store custom knives with corrosive properties?

I do rotate my collection and play with them a lot but I was wondering how you fellas hibernate your safe queens.

Clean carefully but throughly and then apply Renaissance Wax. Store the knife in a container that is protective but not air-tight. Generally, do not store knives in sheaths.

Thanks Gollnick

I knew the thing about no sheaths but the Renaissance wax is new to me. Seems that wax would be a bastid to get off.

Is Renaissance wax a special type of wax like white lightning? After appling do you wrap a piece of cardboard or cloth around the blade?

I'll run a search on Renaissance wax.

Thanks for the tip.

There's rarely a need to remove Ren Wax. The layer that's left behind is only molecules thick and crystal-clear. It's not like you encase the knife in candle-wax or something. After Ren Wax has been applied, it dries hard. You can now handle the knife reasonably without rubbing the wax off. And if you do handle the knife, you will not then feel any waxy residue on your hands at all. If, for some reason, you do want to remove Ren Wax from a knife, an ammoniated household cleaner such as Windex will do the job.

After Ren Waxing my knives, I usually store them in pouches made by Bills Custom Case.
