How SLOW is BFC???

Spark,

What Happened!!! I have a DSL line, and I now find this site to be way slower than slow. Is the "upgrade" not yet finished, or is this as good as it it gets...?????!!!!

Let's hope so. <IMG SRC="frown.gif" border="0"> This is the third BBS I'm on that has updated to the new Ultimate BBS software, nice features, but slower than heck on the others as well. I think Ultimate BBS has some 'splainin' to do with their new version. <IMG SRC="frown.gif" border="0">
 
<CENTER><font size="12" color="#FF0000">SLOW! !</font></CENTER> is not even the right word. I'm off to bladeforums.com until BFC gets it "right" again...

I like the new look and new features( the few I notices right away) Im sure the guys are tweeking it to get the most out of it....Give them some time to work out the bugs.....Anyone who knows bout PC's know bugs is a way of life....
 
Yes, we know it's slow, it's suppossedly the "cache" "feature", which is supposseldy there to ease server strain. I don't see any sign of improvement, in fact, I see a wholesale degredation of performance myself, and I'm less than thrilled.

If this doesn't improve within 24 hours, I'm seriously considering moving to another software platform altogether.

I'm not happy with the direction this software went in.

Not to add salt to the wound, so to speak, but man, this new software is SLOW. Even on my cable modem (which normally flies faster than a T1 line) the site is painfully slow.

Mostly just testing posting on the new software.

Not pickin' on ya Spark. You do an awesome job of keeping the site working right! <IMG SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Also, what gives with the new "log in" feature? Takes more time to get to the good stuff. <IMG SRC="confused.gif" border="0">

On the positive side the extremely SLOW response gives you plenty of time to think about what you are going to say after you hit the Post Reply button. <IMG SRC="wink.gif" border="0">

I do like a number of the features but I hope that Spark can find a way to improve performance.
 
Putting in my two cents, I was just be-bopping around the new bladeforums, and holy cow is it slow. The old forums, even when they were slow, were faster than the new forums. That's not good.

Speaking as a web programmer, anytime you're dealing with software that has a cacheing feature, turn the feature OFF if you can. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be an enhancement, but it simply slows things down terribly.

Here's hoping you work it out.
 
It's slow here too.Not complaining just informing.A question though,on this log in/out,can that be set in preferences where you dont have to enter it manually? Thanks.
 
I don't blame you for trying to enhance the system. Unfortunately, it did not work out as planned. This site is just too S-L-O-W for me to continue to visit.
 
Spark, this new format is much, much too slow, even from my office system, which is quite fast. I cannot imagine what it will be from the server on my wife's system, which is slow even in the best of times! Ye Gads!

BTW, I am not at all sure that having members rate other members is a good idea at all, especially on an anonymous basis. I can forsee all kinds of problems with it.

Since I'm here I'll chime in - ditto.

Chin up, Spark. Most of us know how frustrating it can be to go through the trouble of installing an "upgrade" that doesn't. My work connection is a T1, and the perfromance right now is reminiscent of my old 14.4 at home.

But it's still better than knives.rec !!!
 
Have DSL and it is waaaaaay slow.Just info and not sniveling. <IMG SRC="frown.gif" border="0">
