How small is your collection?

Probably not a lot of replies to this thread but I've been seeing a lot of really nice collections lately, especally in the gallery under the zombie thread along with firearms. So I was wondering if anyone else has collection thats still growing or not growing at all due to whatever reason. What do you have?

Myself I have the basics: 1 manix, 1 chinook II, 1 ZT 0200, 1 swamp rat HR(old model) 1 HI CAK, and 1 HI custom.

Don't really have a lot of "what do I carry today?" moments :rolleyes:
 
I have an eclectic mix.

Fixed: 1 Busse, 4 Swamp Rats, 5 Moras.

Folders: 1 ZT, 3 Kershaws, 3 Opinels.

Plus some SAK's and a Leatherman, of course.

I am still slowly adding more as I see needs and decide on what should fill them. When I buy that way, my wife's reactions tend toward "oh sure, definitely", which I like. Plus I'm cheap.

For the near future there's an old Rat I'm looking for and I'm sorely temped by a certain Koster custom.

59 folders. Mostly Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Buck, Case, Bob Dozier, Chris Reeves, Emerson, Boker, SAK etc...
But who's counting anyway.

Those are really the only ones worth mentioning; the rest are S&W garbage.

My original plan was to get a Spyderco display case, and my "collection" (I don't really collect; I use) wouldn't fill past the case (6 knives, I think). That didn't work because I got a couple knives without holes lol

I still plan to keep it at 6, though. If I want another knife, then I have to sell or trade one that I have. That's because collecting is a waste of money...
 
About a year and a half ago I made a decision to keep my collection small and only have edc's in it I would actually carry and use. That decision has been blown out of the water! Not that I have a large number of knives but I have several knives I probably will not carry. Some models consist of a single knife, while I have three, or will have, models that consist of three models each. these 3 sets include; ZT0200, ZT0205, and ZT0200ST; Kershaw JYDII, JYDII Composite, and JYDIISG2; Kershaw G10 black Tyrade, soon to have G10 orange Tyrade, and soon to have G10 tan Tyrade. Add to this a ZT0500, ZT0650ST, and a ZT0300. Also a Fallkniven PXL maroon, a BM610BK w/winewood handles, a Coyote brown Strider AR, a large pearl Hubertus, a Kershaw Tyrade titanium framelock, a Case orange G10 gunstock, Case Razor in barnboard, Case CV Canoe in autumn bone, Case Seahorse whittler in Harvest Orange, and finally, a Ontario Ranger RD4. that seems to be a total of 21, as soon as the orange and tan Tyrades arrive!

I carry the SOG and the Boker every day in my pocket, and the tinker rides in my bag for food prep\tools.

It's pretty much everything I *need* - not everything I want. Waiting for some extra money to come in this summer so I can get a few things I've had my eyes on.. mainly a Leek in composite and a 710. Can't wait!

I have about 30 to 35 knives of different makes and manufacture. I only really regularly carry 3 or 4 of them, with the rest sitting under the bed. I have about a dozen SAKs, and 3 multis (Spirit, Charge TTi, Powerlock). Three FBs (RC-4, RAT3, and a custom I in buffalo horn and 1095). Five one-handed, locking folders (orange PE Ladybug, standard PE Endura 4, yellow PE PacSalt, PE Dragonfly, and a Mini-Grip in 154CM). Five slipjoints (Case large stockman in stainless, GEC Barlow, Case Soddie Jr., and a Buck med. trapper).

That's really far more than I need or even want. I really only carry the Pacific Salt, the Barlow, and the Stockman, and I keep the Charge TTi in my bag that I carry around to work. I bring an OHT and the custom FB hiking. I could probably get by with less, but what's the fun in that.

I've had plenty of cheap knives over the years and finally decided to start buying decent blades.

I only have 4 worth mentioning though:

Case Mini Copperlock
Kershaw Leek
Victorinox Spartan, actually got it in Switzerland
S&W Swat, I know its cheap but the 440C is perfect for when I'm on the boat cause it doesn't rust easily and it's easy to sharpen

My next knives will be a Pacific salt, boker subcom, and a kershaw blur and od-1
 
My collection has shrank considerably. Right now, it's down to:

I like to make sure that all these knives get used here and there. If it doesn't get used, I give it away.
 
I've got a relatively small collection as well. I purchased my first "good" knife a few years ago (Kershaw Leek) and only became exposed to the rest of the knife world through BF half a year ago.

If I take a step back and list it all, it's actually not as small as I thought it was :o Still tiny compared to others here though. :)

Right now, money is my primary limiting factor (of course) :thumbdn:.

Well not really...bought it for my bro's bday. I hope to get a ZT 0350 some day for myself (as well as a Manix 2, Benchmade 710d2, Brian Tighe Coon, DDR MQ1a, Strider EB DB, and a necker from JSmith). Then my small collection will be complete. I care not for any other knives.
