Over in the "other forum," someone put micarta handles on a Becker Necker with epoxy but without pins. Someone questioned this, and Mike Stewart from Bark River (I think) chimed in with something like "we only use pins because you guys expect them." He went on to say that modern epoxy makes pins redundant and that just using epoxy will hold forever. (Or something like that.)
The reason I bring this up is because I just turned an old drop point with a 6" blade into a new wharncliff with a 4" blade. When I originally made the knife, I was experimenting with handles covered in "goop" and then dipped in "plastic dip." To lighten the knife, I loaded the tang with big holes. Now that I want to put real handles on this "new" knife, there no room for pin holes, so I'm left with trying to use just epoxy. I'm wondering what you guys think. Is it going to hold?
