I know buck said that the marksman lock is the strongest lock they tested but how much stronger is it then say a liner lock or a back lock

Thanks

After doing some reading I found that the marksman can hold over 600lbs so how much can a liner lock and back locks hold
Just trying to get some comparison

I expect someone will jump in here and claim that no folding knife is ever strong enough. But the Marksman lock looks pretty strong to me. My problem with liner locks and back locks has never been strength. With folders the problem has has always been pocket crud that prevents full lock. With liner locks it has been coins getting into the knife, me inadvertently touching the liner lock with my big clumsy fingers, or wear allowing the blade to (partially) swing out in my pocket. So I think all the designs are strong enough, unless the knife is a cheap one to begin with. Other failure modes are more relevant.

Exactly how strong a liner lock or a lockback is depends a bit on how big and thick the lockbar/locking liner is and how sturdily built the knife in question is, so it's a bit hard to say generally. Either way, 600 lbs sounds like a lot and I'm sure it's strong enough for whatever you're gonna use it for.

I would venture a guess and say that yes, the Marksman lock is probably the strongest lock that Buck has ever tested.

Andrew Demko has a number of knife lock tests on YouTube. I'm unsure if he has ever tested the Marksman lock.

I figure locks are just to keep the blade from folding if you do something stupid. Since I'm prone to occasional stupid attacks I like the lock on my 110, but I haven't had a prob with my slipjoint SAK. That said, even with a menial lock, wouldn't you have to work hard to make it fail? Don't mean to sound sarcastic, just curious as why there seems to be concern here and other places on the board about the strength of locks.

I'm sure it strong enough to its buck

Let me add to my question

How does the marksman lock compare to a liner lock on say a vantage force (pretty common buck liner lock) and for back lock a 110

Thanks
