How strong is the Military??

If this has already been addressed please excuse me.
I am new here and new to the Military model and am looking for user recommendations/information.
How strong/reliable is the Military and how long have you had yours?
Thanks in advance.

I used my Military like a small hatchet to chop through a 2x4. The knife suffered no damage whatsoever, and was still surprisingly sharp after this exercise.

I whacked the crap out of the spine on mine trying to defeat the liner lock. All I succeeeded in doing was denting the hell out of my work bench. It's really a great knife. I totally enjoy having mine.
Wouldn't get rid of it for anything!

Scarman - I've had mine for only a little over a week, and havent' used it very much as I'm presently laid up at home and in and out of the hospital, but it's the strongest, most solid folder I've EVER run across. Period! Thick blade; solid lock-up; awesome handle.

This is my favorite folder and presently, my fav knife in my modest collection of 'users'. And make no mistake: this knife begs to be used, and can handle it!

My Military is one of the best linerlocks I have, production or custom. I've never really tried to break it, to test the upper limits. Try some searchs, because Sal Glesser talked about the testing they did a couple of months ago.

RJ,
I hadn't seen you post anything about being in the hospital, I hope you are feeling better.

I own 2, and am preparing to order a third. Does that tell you anything?

Mine locks open like a bank vault. It is hard to imagine a more solid folder.I have some Rolling Lock REKATs, and they are fine, but don't seem to be any stronger than the Military. This opinion is not the result of scientific research, but it is one that is very strongly held!

I remember reading here some time ago that someone found the liner-less design not so rigid, claiming that the handle shows some flex under heavy (sideways) pressure.

Has this been rectified on recent knives, or is it just a matter of different standards that different people may have to judge their knives?

Personal perspective. Also, at least some of the people who have that perspective got it before the recent upgrade of the Military. It is a great knife, and plenty strong. The typical person will never break one without seriously abusing it. The only issue is that some folders with double metal liners are more rigid. This is meaningless to 99.99% of the people who consider buying one, and there are plenty of advantages to the Military to compensate.

Um, that you have three hands? That you like to juggle knives? That you have a tendency to lose things?

Paul - I haven't previously written anything about being in the hospital. I didn't feel a specific announcement was appropriate for these forums. Actually, I wouldn't know where to put it.

I go back to the hospital on Monday for an operation. The reason for all of this is internal bleeding. Thanks for the greeting.

The singe liner -> fragile, comment was made by everyone I let handle the Military I had. Every single person commented similar to "Cheap handle, just plastic, wouldn't take much to break that." That's not true of course, but it does tend to make a very strong negative impression if you have not worked with G10-like materials.
