How Stupid do I feel?

I got to work early and was walking down the hall doing finger rolls with my CLOSED balisong. Well, being the graceful athlete I am, I dropped it. The loose latch allowed the knife to partially open on the brief trip toward the floor. I now have a hole in my Dockers, my sock and my ankle. I am typing this with one hand and applying pressure to my latest butterfly sting while trying to look inconspicuous. At least the socks are black so the blood doesn’t show.

I have been meaning to tighten up my Bali, now I will!

Hey!

Don't feel stupid, BTDT...
Even got a scar on my back from a balisong

you know you can always count on Jonas to make a guy feel better. How you did that I don't think I want to ask.

Congrats, you were lucky not to chip your balisong with the ground! Scar will rocover, but chipped balisong will not.

BTW, is it considered a concealed carry also?

I think "WrongFriend"'s name is quite appropriate..... esp. in this case.

But seriously folks, we've all cut ourselves one time or another. I had a spyderco act as a guillotine slicing off the very tip of my finger. Now THAT hurt like a rabid rat's bite. But it sounds like it could have been much worse. I've heard about some serious accidents from other Forumites that were much worse. Count your blessings and be thankful you learned your lesson in a not-too-hard way. Good Luck

Seriously, I believe a dedication to something with blood, sweat, and tears is to be rewarded in a time being. Balisong practice, or you may call it a play, either the same way to get skilled, is the most pleasant way to pay blood, sweat from you (tears I don't know) compared to other kind of knives.
Among our forumites it will be more enjoyable to hear, tell the bloody things (blood from him/herself) ...

Did you enjoy today?

Hi, I just started flipping. I got a Bear because it has a Damascus blade, which looks cool, but I can feel it falling apart in my hands and the stain they used to bring out the blade pattern is starting to wear off, so I've stopped using it. I've since (pre)ordered a 42 and a Jag to practice with, but after seeing some of the tricks on balisong.com and this thread, I started to wonder if there's such a thing as a practice balisong. Basically just a hunk of metal where the blade would be so a beginner wouldn't have to worry about slicing off a finger or toe. Or is that sacrilege?

mrpointy,
take a cheap balisong and grind the edge and point off the blade (preferably with a power tool, using a file may take some time). Worked ok for me.

mrpointy,
put a strip of thin tape (Tesa, Scotch) on the edge. Works fine for me !

Take care & hold on to your fingers !

A practice Balisong?!?! sacriliege!! the only practice balisong you need is one for dueling. In my opinion you will not learn unles there's an image of risk in the picture. You will not learn and fear yoru mistakes. I remember when I was using gloves for aerials after a month I took em off and wow watch the blood and learnign curve soar.

but yes for the most part get a charming china and grind it down.
