The Lahar is obviously discontinued, but I just got mine. Holy crap, I don't see how this thing could be discontinued due to a lack of popularity.

Already owned a Tyrade and Rake, but I got this with the JYD II and I'm seriously impressed with the non-assisted flippers from Kershaw. I really wish I could get my hands on a G10 Tyrade, but this Lahar is seriously going to be hard to beat.

There aren't too many decent reviews on Youtube about it either (maybe I'll have to post one - it would be my first knife review online, but I've been considering doing one for a bit now).

I seriously can't understand why this knife wouldn't sell. G-10, VG10 steel, flipper-opening, Tip-up/down carry... I'm not the biggest fan of recurve blades, but I'm not against them either.

The internal stop-pin is something I've not seen on other knives before (but its kind of cool). Oddly enough the JYD II has one as well.

Anywho, this thing has re-kindled my long-lost love for new Kershaws (I didn't think there were too many more models out there that I just couldn't live without - I was wrong).

Very impressed.

Agreed EZ! The Lahar has always flown under the radar. Not sure why, but it is one of my favorite Kershaws too!

Maybe the recurve puts folks off, but I dig it. Made in Japan, Big ole hunk o VG10 steel, fine G10 scales, tip up carry, large enough for the big boys, flipper/finger saftey. It will flip with some getting used to, not as smooth as a ZT0200, but it will. The nylon washers give it very smooth action. I want to put some PB washers in there to see how the action might improve, just not sure what size to use.

Long live the Lahar! Great knife! Enjoy!

I had to look it up on the internet to see a pic, that's a good looking knife, I'd like to have one.

I've had the lahar(2-3 years I believe) and it is nice, but a few things I don't care for. First is the small recurve, it would be much easier to sharpen if it was flat(actually it is a love/hate since I like using it). Also, the ball detent isn't that big(or maybe I've work mine down) and doesn't do very well in retaining the blade. I do like the internal pin which makes for a clean design. Also, it is very easy to flick with just your finger and no wrist movement. Ergonomics on it were great though! Not the biggest fan of VG10. It seemed to get somewhat dirty/stained in the jimping, but I've only had one chip. It looks a lot smaller in the pictures; you get a lot of blade/knife for the $$.

For anything like that, take an old toothbrush and some toothpaste or soap and warm water and scrub it out. :)

Good tip. I've just never had it happen before to other folders. It is one of my least carried EDC too, so not sure if it is the steel or the groves.

Carried and used it today. Holy crap this is a nice knife. I haven't even gotten a chance to carry the JYD II yet, but my biggest complaint about Kershaw's flippers is that a lot of them allow for tip-down carry only. That's why my Rake was my absolute favorite knife before this one. I don't know now though - this thing is a baaaad carry knife.

My only complaints so far are that I wish the liner was larger (or that they made a frame-lock version) and for some reason, when it shipped with the clip (in tip-down mode), the pocket-clip covered the pivot-screw-head (which could have been on the other side very easily). Oh and the pocket-clip is a little long for what it is.

None of those are serious complaints or are by any means enough to make me get rid of it.

I can't believe they discontinued the Lahar it's one of my all time favorite Kershaws and was pretty reasonably priced also.

The Lahar is my favorite Kershaw, they probably didn't make any money off them anyway; so much quality for only 50 bucks!
