How the heck do you carry the 631 and 635 PakLite Field Kit??

I've owned the 631 and 635 PakLite Field Kit for a while now and I really like the two knives for ultra lite carry for anytime weight is an issue. Separately, carrying either seems pretty easy, but I've never quite figured out how to carry the set, when using the Buck supplied adaptor plate, which allows both knives to be carried as one. (See pictures at end of article.

I wrote Buck and they replied, "Thank you for reaching out with your question. When the 631 and 635 PakLite knives are connected using the optional adapter plate, the sheaths form a single module that can be carried in a few different ways. The most common method is belt carry, where the assembled sheath can ride vertically at the hip or at a slight angle for easier access. Some users also set it up for horizontal belt carry, or mount it on a drop-leg panel if they prefer the knives to ride lower."

The loop holes on the adapter plate are less than one inch tall, so I am not sure how to follow through on Buck's idea for belt carry ... If you look at the adapter plate, the side on the "top" of the blades .. that loop doesn't lend itself to attaching pocket clips or other attachment hardware due to it being so narrow ... Horizontal carry .. I've tried a few different ideas using holster hardware .. Just can't seem to get it to work .. As to carry on the drop down .. how would it attach to the drop down?

Hoping I am suffering from a lack of imagination here and the answer is reasonable simple ...

I have no idea. My solution would be to reach out to Ed Costa, or one of the other leather sheath makers around here, and have a custom one made to my liking.

I'm not sure I understand how you are suggesting I would attach the field kit to this belt adaptor? Can you explain what you are thinking to me?

For left hand carry (hope my lousy Photoshop sketch works), using Sagewood's left hand carry version (they offer both):

Use two higher screws (in my sketch) or the two lower screws, depending on how low the knife should hang.

For right hand carry, I assume you can reverse the Buck stack ? I.e., put the smaller knife/sheath on the other side ?

Obviously, my PS merge above is not to scale. And I don't have the Buck combo. Here you can see the Taco adapter with a 104, so you can estimate how large it is.

I can measure details if you like. Let me know.

The belt loops on Buck's sheath are less than 1 inch tall?

My wife's belts are even bigger than that.

That's just DUMB.

Horizontal carry belt loops may be an option. Several makers out there. I know New River Knife Works New River Knife Works has some. I just ordered them for a david mary river hawk.

Ahh looking at that it would be hard to do with just one attachment point in that sheath. Id just throw that in a bag haha

Update:
* No reply from Buck when I asked for more details on their suggestion to belt carry or horizontal carry the "kit."
* For now, I've given up on carrying the "kit" using the provided combo bracket and have been carry each individually. They are so light and thin, it is pretty easy to do so.

They added some belt straps with the BOTM 631 but my problem is that I really don't like horizontal carry at all.

I have two of the 631's now and honestly I just chuck it in my pocket. In the summer I always have a cargo pocket. Any other time my jeans always have the carpenter pocket on the side. At the very least it can just go into a back pocket. It's small/thin enough to never really cause an issue.

I might make something to hang it from my belt, though. Good ideas above.

As far as carrying the combo, I'd imagine the utility of it would be more strapped to a bag or pack or something like that. I dunno. Maybe the same as I was saying.. just carry it around like a Jacket pocket or cargo pocket. Tackle box or strapped to a bag. That kind of thing.

I've thought about making a normal sheath for it. Might be worth it

Ps... I don't think those are belt slots.... But they are more like for molle straps or something of the sort to attach it to your equipment.
