How thick are pvd coatings?

DLC coatings can be however thick the manufacturer wants them to be. Most probably aren't too much more than single-digit microns in thickness. That's plenty though, DLC is extremely hard. (Diamond-Like Carbon...)
 
They do vary but generally are 3-5 microns thick. The one I use is 5 microns thick (1/5th as thick as cerakote which is .001")
