How thick are the BM 950, 939, 710?

As always I'm on the hunt for the perfect EDC (for me) and am looking for a fairly thin knife. After trying the axis lock I'm pretty hooked on them, great for us left handers. For years I carried a Spyderco, thin but is feeling a bit small these days, then I got a 550 Griptilian, terrific knife but pretty thick in my pocket after carrying something thin for so long. So I got the 707, again a terrific knife but smaller than I was really looking for, thin like my old Spyderco which was perfect however. I also picked up a Kabar Dozier, amazing bang for the buck, if it had an axis lock, g10 scales and made from 154CM I think it would be perfect (for me).

So, after drooling over the BM catalog I think I've narrowed down my choices to the Rift, Kulgera or 710. The 707 is 0.385" thick, the 550 is 0.625", how thick are the 950,930 or 710?

Any and all photos comparing these to the full size Griptilian would be much appreciated too.

the 930 is not thin. i believe the 710 is no thinner than the 930. osbourne blade shapes tend to have a flat ground spear point profile so theyre not what youre looking for if you want some super slicer. spyderco makes some of the best thin ffg blades for that preference. you might also want to try a slipjoint if thats your fetish

Thanks walleyeguy7, but it's not the blade that I need/want/care to be thin, it's the width of the grip/handle/scales.

The Rift and 710 are right at 1/2". I can get a micrometer and give you an exact number but they were very close to that when I measured.

Perfect, thanks Joshua. Nice to have some confirmation my measurements weren't to far off too.

FYI from what I saw in the PDF the thinnest axis lock knives are 0.37" thick the 960, 530 and 480.

I think the Benchmade 530 will defiantly fit the fit the bill. The 530 is super slim, it cuts like laser and has an axis.

Get the 710...you wont regret it. Its already a classic.
btw- I'm also a lefty that appreciates the axis lock.

The 710 is very high on my list, no question. After all of the positive threads and posts here about it how could it not be. :)

Size wise the 940 looks like it would fit, but something about it just doesn't seem right to me, maybe it's just the photos I've seen, I'd have to see one in person before buying it. Unfortunately REI and a shop in the mall are the only places around I've found that carries any Benchmade at all to look at.
