The title says it all. Just curious how thick it is compared to say...a Tinker or Farmer.

The Huntsman Lite is 5 layers thick, or 0.9" thick from outside of scale to outside of scale.

The Farmer is 3 layers thick, or 0.55" thick (OS to OS).

The Tinker is 2 layers thick, or 0.5" thick (OS to OS).

I find the Huntsman Lite a little much for pocket carry - its pretty heavy and bulky. I also do not like the flashlight design - I find the light comes on in my pocket, so you have to either remove the batteries or reverse them so they do not prematurely drain. I wish they would design a locking feature with the on/off switch. I also hear that the batteries are not standard off the shelf variety - you have to order them via internet.

The nice feature is the addition of the phillips head screw driver across from the light.

The Farmer is a great knife, as is the Tinker, albeit very minimalistic.

I tend to favor the regular Huntsman, as I like to have the scissors, tweezers, toothpick, and small glasses screwdriver that rides in the corkscrew.

I carry a separate flashlight on me at all times, so the addition of a light in a knife holds no appeal - it's carrying extra bulk I don't need.

I've never met a Vic SAK I didn't like!!:D

Thanks for the info Toyz. The main reason I was looking at the Lite version is because of the fact it had an inline phillips driver, as well as the saw. I can't find any other models that have the same combo.

Other than the Champ there doesn't appear to be. Thats a great knife, but then you're talking about 7 layers and more weight.

It will be a happy day when Vic starts accepting custom orders for combos that we as the buyers want.

Did you try Felinevet? They have a few folks over there that do some sick mods on SAKs - you just have to donate the parts.

There was a model, long since discontinued, that is an explorer with a saw. I don't recall the name. I think its about the same thickness as the huntsman lite, maybe a hair thinner.

That model was called the Woodsman. It is indeed slightly thicker than the Explorer, since it adds the (very thin) saw layer to the Explorer's width.

You could also go for the Champion Plus, same as the Swiss Champ but without the pliers.

The woodsman looks to be a great SAK.

I had considered the Champion Plus, but I think it's even larger than the Huntsman Lite. I think I may end up with an Explorer Plus as I don't really "need" the saw for anything but a small minority of chores I come across.
