How to 550 cord wrap?

Anyone have a tutorial or espically pics and links?

I just got a couple hundred ft. of black 550. I have decided cord wrap the handle of my Fiskars hand axe, partly because it's ugly, partly cause I wanna carry a little more 550. I do use it for boot laces already, and keep a coil on the dirt bikes, quads, boat, and truck.

I have cobra stitched some bracelets and stuff, but I'm not too good with such things.

Requirements:
1) I need to be able to still get my hands around the thing (duh).

2) I need to be able to take just what amount I need and leave (or re-wrap with relative ease) the rest.

3) needs to look reasonable.

Thx!

i cord wrap the way strider does but i'm not sure you'd wanna do it that way on anything that isn't flat stock. you're probably better off just winding it around than using an elaborate cord wrap as it does ad some girth.

I guess the trick is how do I keep it attached at the top?

I was thinking that there must be a way to end up with both loose ends at the bottom and maybe finish off by looping both ends through the lanyard holes and make like a wrist strap that way. My thing is, I am not good at such things. It seems to me that cord wrapping my gear has obvious advantages and I would like to come up with something, partly because I like to tinker for its own sake.

thx, keem em commin

Yes, thanks wapiti - The ranger.com method is along the lines of what I was looking for. Keem em comin though, I think I'm gonna make a mini temporary hobby out of this.

Currently, I just have a small square knot at the top and simply a coil down to the bottom. While I suppose that will do, I does appear a bit amateur-ish and I'm not so sure about the grip if I start trying to take down trees and such.

i've used the strider wrap without holes by simply wrapping it around at the top where it should be looped through the hole. getting it to stay in place without holes is a pain but if you have at least one hole you can tie your knot there and secure the rest in place with a zip tie or ladies' hair pin. no holes in the sheaths below but i tied em very very tight then secured them with color matching zip ties.
