How to attach clip?

I'm wondering if anyone has any creative ideas as to how to attach a pocket clip to this piece. It's a handy little lockback folder with a bottle opener, but it doesn't have a clip, which makes me very unlikely to carry it often. There's a through hole where the bail loop would normally attach, which measures right about 4mm diameter. I thought I could reuse the hardware that attached the bail loop, but it's made to pivot when tightened, so it can't hold a clip in position. Thoughts?

Are the scales thick enough to support drilling them and adding those little threaded female inserts (I don't know the correct term, sorry), which would allow you to mount a standard clip?

It's possible some sort of Chicago screw arrangement that goes through the lanyard hole would also work.

It's hard to tell how thick the scales are, as they're sort of aluminum caps with the steel liners inset into the back. I could conceivably drill and tap the scales/liners, but I'm a bit hesitant to do so.

The full knife is approximately 7/16" thick, so a Chicago screw situation might work if I can get it tight enough. Thanks!

I added a clip to one of my Al Mar Ultralights (Hawk) with Black Micarta scales. I drilled and tapped three 1-72 screw holes in the Micarta to attach the clip. The screws held very well, I've actually bent the clip several times with out damaging the scales or screws.

note:
- Micarta is a very strong material
- bigger screws are not always better. The 1-72 threads are very fine and provide quite a bit of surface area for the threads to engage.

I did a Buck for someone here. #2-56 screws are the normal clip screw used in most knives.
