How to avoid the HERMAN-LOCK?

Hey, my public service announcement, “Tim Herman *** BAD ***” has been bounced TWICE now, from two forums, in less than two days (in “Community” for now; I feel like a toxic waste barge trying to find port.) Is that a forum record?

Other joke-threads get to stay, while mine gets deported to Siberia. I PAY AS MUCH AS EVERYONE ELSE HERE TO POST!

Yet I’m not feeling the love.

So, what are the rules for keeping a thread here? How about a 24-hr probationary period?

I’m feeling persecuted. Maybe I should stop posting, waaaah!

Storyville, just post your incredibly serious, lucid, touch in cheek, sarcastic, and humorous satire in the Community Forum to begin with and it will stay put. You yourself caused the first move by suggesting that your post would be better off in GBU. The only real problem was that it was Sooo well written that some folks might not understand your allusions.

Spark did not seem to have any policy on moderators playing thread tennis. I asked last night in chat. It looks like you have invented a new phenomenom, the Quantum Thread. As soon as you think you know where it Is, it moves somewhere else.

Do you think that Community would be better served by a name change to 'The Coliseum?'. Then we could have all sorts of interesting contests to the death. Everyone would come and cheer, encouraging the spectacle as our gladiators fight with keenly felt and sharp edged words in virtual contests over whose Blade is Bigger, Better, Faster, or More (overpriced).

Paracelsus, sensing that this thread is about to fall into a wormhole and will reappear on the Other Side of the Universe over in the Community Sector.

To avoid the Herman-Lock, grease your head with vaseline, you will find that you can slip your head out of that pretty easy!

bet it would be one of the busiest forums you got?!?! na na nananana

I don't think this situation is common enough to warrant a policy ruling or change at this time.... it was a judgement call and IMHO, didn't seem to have any ill effects either way.

The thread could just have easily stayed in either the General or GB&U, while it certainly does have it's place in the Community center. Net result? No harm, no foul. The moderators exercised their judgement, and I agree that when the day is done, the thread probably does belong in the Community Center after all.

Regarding a Whine & Cheese forum, while I can appreciate sick humor as much as the next guy (if not more so), keep in mind that BladeForums.com's goal is to appeal to the broadest user base possible. I don't think that a forum where members bash each other, or tell the foulest jokes, etc would draw more members than it would drive away. Second, I don't want people to have an excuse to bash each other, and it's my opinion that if we open the doorway to it by having a dedicated forum for it, we'll experience spillage with such bashing occuring on other areas of the board. Call it a "Flaming Domino Theory" if you will....

I'm not saying that such a forum is out of the question, but for the time being it doesn't dovetail into our plans, and as a result won't be added at this time. Better it stay on chat where it can be appreciated in a "virtual bar" setting...

Happy Easter!

OK, Spark, not Whine & Cheese ... but maybe we can start a “Support Group.”

(But would be nice to have a forum called The Thunderdome
