How to break in a multitool?

I have never had a problem with tool tightness- but I just bought another New Wave and it is so stiff. Like the straight blade is stiffer than the serrated the pliers are still stiff, and the inner tools are stiff too. Any suggestions

Maybe a drop of gun oil or other lightweight oil on the pivots, and then work it back and forth 9000 times while you watch Man vs. Wild on tv. That will do it.

cheers

Like powernoodle said, lubricate and work it. It will loosen up.

I just got a New Wave myself, and the outer blades are firm, not really stiff, but the small inner tools are harder to get out because the leverage is poor, but they aren't stiff enough to bother me. Sometimes these multitools just need breaking in.

I use Tuf-Glide because I can get the lubricant right down into the pivot.

oil and use hasn't failed me yet.

but after years of wear things can get too loose but thats another problem all together.

I have an old style Wave that is very loose, but it is probably the favorite of my 4 Waves.

I've noticed to that some Waves are a little tight where the pliers fold back into the handle, but this too resolves with some use.

Bottom like is that opening and closing the Wave a zillion times, plus the individual tools, will loosen it up a little.

cheers
