Recommendation? How to burlap wrap Mora #1?

Hi, I was thinking of trying to wrap burlap and epoxy directly onto the stick tang of a Mora #1 and sandwiching and clamping it to let it dry. Also drilling and pinning the tang after everything dries.

Does anybody have thoughts on this or advice for putting a resin handle on a Mora #1?

Sorry for double posting in tinkering forum.

I would make a mandrel from plain steel that was the size of the tang. Wax it well with a couple coats of paste wax. Wrap the burlap on the tang while applying the resin. when dry, tap off the mandrel, clean up and pre-shape, then mount on the blade and finish.

Use a slow cure resin to allow plenty of time for curing. I would recommend West System 105 with 206 or 207 hardener. An alternate would be System Three clear coat.

Whew that went bad heh, I instead went for stacking squares of the burlap and putting the blade between a few layers. Then Clamped it together.

Ah a mandrel that would of worked way better lol.

I made one using jute fiber string what was resin soaked. (Messy as hell !) Just winding it up on the tang. Then grind to shape. That was fun & unique looking.
If you want to make stacked layers, Maybe consider layering up your burlap into thick sheets then cut that to sections to stack up.
Basically, Its same thing I do with birchbark. Glue up 12”x12” squares about 3/4” thick. Much like plywood. Cut them to whatever profile & drill to fit over the tang. Bolster & pommels are usually made of horn or bone.

Lol I only did 4 layers each side to test the epoxy I got, Might have used too much pressure on the clamps. We'll see tomorrow.
