How to buy a CPK field knife?

I’m interested in a CPK for field use, 6” or thereabouts. I know so far that there is a sale here every Friday but there seems to be many links that lead to other links and it gets confusing. I’d appreciate some help to get me in a position to be at the right place, at the right time to be able to buy a CPK as described. Thank you.
 
Jump into the sales thread every other Friday at 2 p.m. CST / 3 p.m. EST in the Fixed Blades for Sale by Maker subforum. Check the pinned posts in the CPK subforum, as Nathan always posts ahead of time of when the next sale will be.

Most people in the feeding frenzy are chasing the DEK1, as demand is still far outstripping supply on that one, even with a huge preorder done.

Since you're looking for (presumably) an FK2, even if you aren't one of the fastest fingers/fastest internet people, just post that you want an FK2 and what configuration you want, and Jo will probably message you within a few days later to confirm and invoice for it. Jo and Nathan have been big in the last few months about being willing to sell knives they have even if you don't make it into the top 20 posts. Basically the top 20 posts are competitive, but... if you want to buy something that people aren't really competing for, you can pretty much just get it.
 
Next Friday at 3pm eastern CPK will open a thread in the knife makers for sale area. You should be able to get an FK2 with scales you like if your in the top 20 or so. This should be relatively easy because most people who want FK2 already have them at this point. If that doesn’t work for you you can always post something into want to buy sell or trade section of CPK sub form
 
FK2 Total length 9.75” ... Blade length 4.625”

and the HDFK is Total length 11.825" ... Blade length 6.5"

Some of the FK2 knives have been offered n the recent Friday sales ... but the HDFK has not. If it's the bigger HDFK you want you will need to watch the secondary market. Subscribe to the CPK "want to buy thread" and watch it closely for one to be posted. Try posting a WTB in that thread someone may offer one for sale to you.
 
As others have already posted, Carothers blades can be sourced from the official CPK sales threads, which are announced in the CPK sub, or you can buy the knives on the secondhand market.

If you are unable to participate in the sales thread frenzy, you can ask the regulars, if somebody will proxy for you.

All the CPK Field Knives are nice - heartedly recommended.

And there have been multiple sales in the time that you've been looking. I'd guess that the last of them went at Blade; so you're probably stuck with waiting for them to appear on the secondary market...hoping that a) the seller is willing to deal with international shipping, and b) the price isn't raised too much.
