Lets see:
- Fallkniven original open leather dangler (and JRE):
Traditional scandinavian style, makes the knife look "handmade", very high sheeple acceptance, better well used than brand new, hangs below backpacks, jackets and such. Use thumb to retract knife. (+ camping/hiking/dry - Tactical/wet/dirty/water)
- Fallkniven original closed leather sheath:
Not obvious it is a knife, very high sheeple acceptance, looks nice and good if you carry the knife more than you use it. Put the flap inside your belt when using it. Also better when used alot. Needs care when the knife is put back the first years. (+ camping/hiking/dry - Tactical/wet/dirty/water)
- Fallkniven original kydex sheath (and in some way On Scene sheaths):
Less sheeple acceptance, can be attached to different wests, harnesses etc., good for tactical use, better suited for harsh environments. (+ camping/hiking/dry/tactical/wet/dirty/water - not very sheeple)
- Fallkniven new zytel sheath:
Looks like low price Mora clone hence high sheeple points, takes any messy things you can throw at it, easy to take out knife with thumb, can be cleaned witn anything.
(+ camping/hiking/dry/tactical/wet/dirty/water - dull looking)
So in short:
Get a "nice" sheath for it when you plan on doing just camping things (mostly carrying it around and cutting wood and such) and get a "practical" sheath for it if you know you are going to gut a moose or otherwise get it gucky. One way is to have the "nice" sheath and bring some alcohol wipes or such to clean it when you mess it up.
