Curious to know all the different ways people carry a small vic around. I use a lobster clasp on my keychain. Have heard people will put in a sheath and attach sheath to keychain.

what are the different keychain setups. How do people carry it in the pocket alone? with/without lanyard??

I've found that size of SAK is just right on my keys. But sometimes I feel like carrying one loose if I don't have my keys, and they carry as well as change in my pocket. I guess I haven't done anything special to carry those, they're a long way from a Swisschamp :D

I make up a snug leather pouch type of sheath to go on a keyring. It makes the knife a heck of a lot easier to access and use without being attached right to the keyring. I understand that Victorinox makes a sheath for the keychain, but I've never seen one exept in thier online catalogue of acsessories. I guess you could order one for the 4 dollars they charge.

On some rare occasions I may have it tucked in my pants pocket, but that is very very rare.

To me thats the preferred way, so you can detach it as needed. Another way I have done it is with a paracord lanyard in my pocket, with the paracord helping me find it.

I prefer the Rambler in the 58mm class.

I carry mine in a keychain sheath from Victorinox. Much more convenient than using the knife while it's anchored to the keys.

The leather sheath (above) works well but the leather will become stretched (of course) to the thickness of the knife so you might want to buy more than one if you plan on switching between 58mm model of significantly different thicknesses. I have a few of the sheaths and keep my users in them - just swapping the sheath/knife combo on the carabiner when I want to use a different 58mm model.

Below is a catalog page from Victorinox. I had one of the imitation leather cases (#4.1863) but wasn't impressed with the durability - after significant pocket time, the material fell off the key ring. The leather one (#4.1864) looks nice. I have a few of the clips as well but I haven't used them since I've been very pleased with my current setup.

Those leather keychain sheaths are an excellent solution! I didn't know about them - thanks for the "heads up"! ;) Anyway, here's an alternative that I use to solve the "problem" of the classic's pen blade opening next to the keyring:

The Wenger Esquire Evo-Grip. It's 65mm compared to the Vic Classic at 58mm. The blade opens opposite the keyring, and I find that having the flashlight & pill canister attached gives me a better grip when using the knife - something more to grab onto with my whole hand. However, I don't think it would work too well attached to a big wad of car keys and the remote door/trunk unlocking things.

Thats why it's better to make your own. It's not hard to make a durable real leather keyring sheath that will last for years. If you have a crafts store around, they should have some thin leather and waxed linin thread. Then all you need is a large upholstry needle and a thin awl. The other nice thing about real leather, you can take a small soldering iron and burn your initials in the sheath for the cattle brand look.

I use a size 0 s-biner and it works pretty well. It's only slightly longer than my Fenix LD01 so it doesn't feel like its too long in the hand.

Small carabiner so I can clip it onto whatever/wherever and unclip it easily/quickly when it's needed.

What's a lobster clasp?

I have mine on a lobster clasp attached to the keychain. I have a sheath that Jackknife made for me, which is REALLY neat, but there is a problem. Because it is snug, whenever I pull it out, I lose either the tweezers or toothpick. Not lose them, but they end up INSIDE the sheath. I've actually been using the sheath for another small knife I have. However, i think the lobster clasp, or some other quick releasing type attachment works best. You CAN just hook it on to your keys, but it is a pain to use with the keys getting in the way.

It shouldn't be that tight. Soak it in warm water till soft, and stick the knife in it overnight so it wet forms to the knife. It should be okay after that.

Carl.

I usually put a small Classic or Ambassador directly on a ring on the keychain. Sometimes I have a seperate ring for the small SAK, a small flashlight, a USB stick and a bottle opener and carry that just in my pocket.
