No tracking numbers or ups guys bearing hawks for me yet, but i cant wait to give it a try. Im curious though, for those of you who carry a hawk regularly, does it work better in a shoulder rig or on your belt. I have a vn tac inbound,(hope it wont be too long) and am thinking of a survivalsheath double shoulder rig for it and my satin jack? any suggestions from those more seasoned in hawksmanship(my own word) grewatly appreciated.

I find that the sheaths ATC sends with the hawks are fine for carry! However, if you want a more expensive shoulder rig for a hawk and knife, you would probably want to make sure you would really use it. Does it bother you carrying hawk & knife on your belt? Would it be a million times better with a shoulder rig? How much would you wear it? No one can really answer these questions for you except you. Survival Sheath Systems seems to be excellent and I have not heard one bad word about their products, I can't wait to get my free sheath. I think the VN Tac sheath is fine for carry, but if you think a shoulder rig would suit you better and get a lot of use... go for it!! Btw... VN Tac and a Satin Jack combo sounds great!

Swede,

I'll tell you that at EVERY show I wear the Vietnam Tactical in a shoulder rig. I've had knives or other hawks attached. You can even modify it and have Rob make a holster for a sidearm. It is SERIOUSLY the most comfortable thing I wear.

Last show I had a dual rig with a Timberline Kelly Worden folder on each side and completely forgot I had it on, took off my coat in a restaurant and sat down to eat. My husband made me put my coat back on but I'm telling you that NOTHING is more comfortable than a rig from Survival Sheath Systems.

In most cases, yes. If you need a Vietnam Tactical Shoulder Rig, we have them in stock. If you need a Vietnam Field Grade Shoulder Rig, they are coming into stock next week. We always try to keep a few dozen of each model on hand.

i have a question for you guys,
is the survival sheath shoulder rig for the NG ranger hawk comfortable to wear while driving?
im about 6'1" so im definetaly not short.
ive been wanting to get a tomahawk for a while now, but id like to be able to carry it while driving

Well, I'm certainly not as tall as you (5'8") but as long as a jacket isn't in the way to bind up the handle, you can indeed pitch the handle to lay with the butt along your leg while the case remains under your arm from the rigging. SOOOOO, I would have to say, YES, you can carry it there while driving.

I've carried my VT Tac in a Shoulder Rig while driving MANY times, without issue or discomfort.

Last November the V-Man wore one all day at the New York Show and forgot he had it on until he went to take his jacket off in the downtown restaurant that night...That was too funny....

I put one on and HAD to have one...now I do...The amount of adjustment is great and they can be worn left or right handed easy.

Island Cher, Ranger-Lady Jennifer, and Amy J. all look better wearing the shoulder rig than I do...:D

Okay then its settled, as soon as my satin jack arrives its off to survivalsheath to be fitted in a custom double shoulder rig. Thanks for all your help.

Shoulder rigs I feel are probably the best, but my be hard to get at if wearing a backpack on the trails. It all depends on the situation I think.
