How to clean forged blade

Hi folks,

can anyone advice me how to clean forged blade to the silver/blue color?
I m speaking about this particular finish which is to be seen on some forged scandinavian blades.
The forging marks are still visible and all, but the blade is nicely cleansed.

If you soak the blade in vinegar for several hours it will take the scale off and after cleaning, leave a silvery/grey finish. I'm not sure if this is what you want to know, though.
 
extra fine steel wool, or a green scratch pad. i think you talking about that rough kinda finish where theres still black scale in the hammer pits but the high spots are smooth and silver. those foam sanding sponges work good for this too. the secret is fine grit so you remove to much black at once.
