I suspect that his work is out of my league, but who knows?

Does anyone know how to contact Jurgen Steinau?

your guy does not seem to like publicity. He is not even listed on the official website of the German Knifemakers Guild, although he is said to be a member. Or maybe he was hit by an anvil lately? ;)

I think your best bet is writing to this Address:

Mister Trompeter is the current President of the German Knifemakers Guild and as such he should know a way to get hold of Mister Steinau.

I'm also a fan of Steinau's work. In fact, I just had lunch with knifemaker Bud Weston and we discussed some of his inlay techniques at length, in addition to what it takes to obtain one of his knives.

Jürgen is a fantastic guy who has been a very very big help to me over the years I have known him.
 
Steinau! The one and only! And obtaining one of his knives (the RIGHT knife) is my one and only Holy Grail. :love_heart: I have dropped on several of his knives a the past few AKIs . . . with no luck. :(

If he takes orders these days, and if those prices are along the same lines as AKI, Stresa , , , yes, bring your checkbook. I have always figured that I would be looking at five figures for any knife of his that I really, really want.
