What supplies do I need take a knife from "any other grind" to a convex edge?

And how do you do it?

Thanks!

Well the quickest and easiest way to do it is with a belt sander but it is also the most expensive and if you are not careful you can screw up a knife.
The safer and least expensive is with plan old sand paper (in various grits) mounted to something with a little give usually a thin mouse pad or thick leather.I takes longer and is more more labour intensive but less chance of doing any serious damage.

the easiest way is to have someone else do it :D. a belt sander is the easiest way to do it yourself if you have one like chiller said. if you do it by hand, get a good grade of abrasive cloth instead of paper. it will hold up better when working on the tip.

For about $45 you can get this belt sander from Harbor Freight and a couple belts from Lee Valley and get a very nice convex edge in a few minutes. Leather belts are also available for this sander to power strop your convex and conventional "V" grind edges.
