You let him (or her) use or hold one.
A while back I got a BK1 Brute and a Camillus BK9 the same day in the mail. I met a buddy of mine for lunch. As I was waxing poetic about my "new" knives, I found out that he had never even HEARD of Beckers, much less used one.
After lunch, we went out to my car and I popped the hatch on my Prius and pulled out the Brute first. I handed it to him and he said "OMG, I need one of these!!!!" He was very disappointed when I told him they were discontinued. Then I pulled out the 9 and said "Here, try this one." He said "OH, S%^&, this feels just as good as the other one." To which I replied, "Yeah, that's what happens when you use the same handle on all of them."
I then went to the front seat and pulled out the BK2 that I keep in the glove box and said, "Here, try this. It's the 9's 'little brother'." He was a little amazed that all 3 knives just kinda fit his hand so well. (Note- he's a big guy - was a starting linebacker for A&M back in the 90s.) I told him that there were several that fell in between the 2 knives, the 5,7 and 10.
Today he texted me that his BK9 had arrived. I responded with "Great. You can't not have a 9.
". His response was "I got a 7 too". I responded that after he started using them, he was gonna get addicted, and he responded that his 2 was supposed to arrive "any day".
With that, I called him and asked if he had ordered all of the Beckers. Nope, just the 3 knives. All that from just letting him hold a 1, a 2 and a 9 for a couple of minutes each. Weather permitting, he's gonna be breaking in the 9 on his ranch this weekend. I told him to take some pics.
