hi Paul and Forum,

I'm interested in continuing to advance my sheath making by going into more complex designs. One of the skills I'd like to learn is how to inset stingray or snakeskin into a window in the top of a welted sheath. I was wondering if anyone could provide guidance with some pictures on how this is done?

Appreciate everyone's help.

Thanks,
David

Hi Paul, those are great visuals. one question... I don't have a sewing machine. I have been able to do the welt-edge stitching by hand without a problem. For the inserts, is the stitching necessary, or will the glue and lining effectively hold it in place?

Thanks,
David

Good contact cement and a lining might get the job done. The lining being completely glued in should keep the inlay from moving at all. It would surely be worth a try. All mine get stitched, but as you noticed I do have that machine:D
