How to customize a BECKER

Basic ideas. (Use one or more.)
_______

Strip the blade with Zip-Strip

Force a patina

De-ramp the spine

Modify the blade shape--drop the point, smooth out the lines, etc.

Add custom scales

Buy/make a custom sheath
___

For custom scales, if you want G10, TheKnifeConnection (TKC) has them. They have G10 Becker handles in many colors. ($60)
If you want Micarta, most people buy the KaBar Becker Micarta scales. ($45)
If you want wood, most people recommend TommyTheWho. He has many different types of wood, and sell on Ebay. ($20 to $40)

For a custom sheath, most people recommend 710, Azwelke, J&G Sheaths, or SkyStorm Leather Works. I am not aware of pricing.

Any damn way you please....but post pics no matter what you do. These blades are all great users straight out of the box but they are easily tailored to individual needs (or wants). Look around the BK&T subforum; you'll see all sorts of modifications - some subtle, some outrageous...and just when you think you've seen every possible combination of steel removal, scale mod, sheath type and carry option, someone comes up with something new. One of the "Beckerheads" here has as his signature "Beckers are the Legos of the knife world" and I think that sums it up nicely.

If you look around on the forum there are a couple modification threads that might give you some ideas, also my personal favorite is the bk-10

Be careful. If you get one Becker something happens inside you and soon you will have more. For mods I striped my bk-7 so when I use it to eat with, food will not stick to it. As for the best Becker it depends what you do most of the time. If you fight mostly fast moving zombies a bk-7 is best. But if you fight mostly small house cats a bk-13 fits the bill. And of course if fighting grizzly bears the bk-9 is the only way to go. Since I prefer to fight 4th graders and mountain lions I like the bk-7.

I just posted a thread with lost of pictures in this forum about stripping mine. Look for BK-7 Stripper!
