How to cut in a "wave" & thumb grooves?

I am not a knife maker, but am handy with tools. I'm considering buying a new folder, and cut in a "wave", as well as some thumb grooves, into the top of the blade. Why? Because I'd like a "waved" knife, but the only production knives I've seen with a "wave" are Emersons, and there are several other manufacturers that have knives I'm interested in.
