Got an Emerson PUK, and I dislike the shiny handle screws. Is there a clean way to darken the screws?

I don't want to use paint or anything that will add a (comparatively) thick layer because it's a hex screw and I still want to be able to remove them if needed.

The screws on a Emerson are stainless. Your beat bet is to figure out what size they are and get some from the hardware store. My 2cents:D.

On steel screws I have had good luck using a Birchwood Casey PRESTO Gun Blue Pen. Liquid gun blue would probably work as well although I have not tried it.

Google Caswell's Stainless Steel Blackner, it's like blueing for SS.
Spendy, but works great.Works on carbon steel also.

Or Circuit Board etchant found at Radio Shack. It'll turn the screws gray not black, but being etched they won't be shinny at least.
Works great to take the shine off pert near any metal found on/in a knife.
